The Start…
As this is my first blog, may I say a big thank you to those who have come on my website to look at the different kinds of pictures that I have so far uploaded of which I’m glad to say they are now on sale.
Please be reassured that even though there are only 4 pictures on the shop page at this moment in time, a lot more will be uploaded as time goes by of which you will have more choice in not only the places and landmarks that will be on there, but also the type of photos and pictures that you would be interested in buying.
The first picture on the shop page is the POP photograph of the Statue of Liberty. It would be very easy to go to New York and one of the first landmarks you would want to take a photo of would be Lady Liberty. But did you know that Lady Liberty was actually sculptured by a Frenchman by the name Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. As such, I wanted to take the liberty (no irony intended) of using POP inspired by Andy Warhol to experiment with various POP photos until I came up the colours that to me defines how we see Lady Liberty herself based on various points of view. As Mr Warhol said this himself “Isn't life a series of images that change as they repeat themselves?”
The second picture on the shop page is another POP photograph. This time, we are in Liverpool with the Royal Liver Building. As if you didn’t know already, at the top of its towers are the famous two Liver Birds which overlook the River Mersey. It was built for the Royal Liver Assurance back in the 1910’s by architect Walter Aubrey Thomas. Myself and my family go to Liverpool every year, but I wanted to use a more recent trip to get as many photos of various landmarks in and around Liverpool. Again, like Lady Liberty, I experimented with various colours and the photo you see on the shop page is similar to that of The Beatles album ‘Sgt. Pepper’ of which you would all know that they themselves are from Liverpool.
The third picture on the shop page is what I class, A High-End City photo. We’re back in New York as this photo of the Empire State Building was taken from the Rockefeller Centre. I have named this photo the ‘Empire State of Mind’ which was named after the song ‘New York State of Mind’ by famous singer-songwriter, Billy Joel, who himself is from New York. He performed this track at one of his Madison Square Garden concerts on the same day I took this photo and what better way to name the track. On both occasions, it was the tallest building in New York before the construction of the One World Trade Center that replaced the original World Trade Center that was destroyed in the 9/11 attacks. However, you cannot deny its iconic status along with the Statue of Liberty of being the biggest landmarks in New York.
The fourth picture on the shop page is a picture I created myself. It reflects a minimalist genre created with four colours that represent a natural, organic and yet a simple outlook of the picture itself. Green represents nature and the grass we walk on to explore the natural and understand the calmness it brings whether it is with animals, trees, bushes or the mountains. The blue represents the water and what we do with whether it is to swim and explore the underwater of fish and mammals, admire it’s cleanliness of the ocean (especially the Pacific), to drink when we feel thirsty to cool ourselves and to wash to keep ourselves clean and hydrated against the heat. The black with the white moon represents the night of which we seek peace and quiet for us to rest when we are tired. The rest would give us time to think about what we can do the next day to make our world a better place whatever our views are on life in which we seek to fulfil our purpose. Along with the picture is a quote from Paul McCartney which reads ‘Think globally, Act locally’. As stated in my description of the picture, it defines that my picture can interpreted in so many ways possible and it can create the perception of the world we live in no matter what your background is in life.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my first blog and I look to post more as this website expands and grows
All the best,
